Liverpool 2-0 Aston Villa: The best of the rest
Liverpool’s first two matches at Villa Park have been largely disappointing and it has been a mixed bag for Brendan Rodgers’ side.
Liverpool were on top after six minutes with Suarez, Firmino and Coutinho all firing in strikes but Villa were just too good to stop.
Philippe Coutinho scored his 10th goal of the season to give Liverpool a 2-1 lead and it was his fifth goal of a brace in six games.
His run of form started with his late goal against Tottenham in February, when he opened the scoring.
The hosts took the lead from a corner.
Mario Balotelli scored for the hosts after a corner but Balotellini did not find the net.
Luis Suarez netted his 10,000th Premier League goal, ending Liverpool’s longest losing streak at the Stadio Olimpico.
And that’s the scoreline you can’t change.
Liverpool’s next game is away to Crystal Palace.
