Why ‘Jerk’ villa at Lake Villa library has to be closed due to flooding
A Lake Villa man says he’s going to the city council to file a lawsuit to keep his Lake Villa villa from flooding.
Gregory Ponce told the Daily News he was in the process of remodeling his Lake Villa library when the lake began to overflow.
He said his basement flooded Monday.
Ponce said he has been working on the library for over 20 years and was unaware of any issues until Monday.
“I don’t know how to fix it, but I’m going to fix this,” Ponce said.
Pone said the flood did not affect his work, but he said it will be a long process to get it done.
Piteres home was flooded in the summer of 2016.
He had planned to rebuild the library in the fall but said his watertight seal on the basement wall was destroyed by the flooding.
Paseres library has been closed since the flood, which also affected the town of West Valley City.
