Meet Jonathan Villar, CEO of Snapchat’s Snapchat for Education team
Snapchat for Children is an innovative platform for providing access to a rich, engaging, and fun learning experience to children.
The Snapchat for Schools initiative builds on this platform to enable students to use Snapchat as an educational tool to explore the world, learn from other students and teachers, and connect with peers.
Jonathan’s role as CEO of Snap for Schools is to oversee the development and execution of Snapchat for School, including the launch of the app and the creation of the Snapchat for Kids app.
Jon has extensive experience in education, including at a leading school in the Philippines, as well as serving as Vice President of the Global Learning Initiative at the US Department of Education.
Jon has a Ph.
D. in education from the University of Florida, where he studied human development and pedagogy, and an M.A. in Educational Psychology from the New York University School of Education, where she also worked with young children and adults.
He also received his B.A., M.
Ed. in Education Psychology from Florida State University and his J.D., Ph.
S. in Developmental Psychology from Boston University School and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program.
