Pizza chain plans to open its first store in the U.S.
Pizza chain Pizzeria del Monte said it plans to debut a new store in Pennsylvania on Tuesday, a sign of growth in the state where it has more than 30 stores and plans to expand into New York.
The chain plans an opening date of March 5.
The company plans to use the space to stock its menu, with a focus on the classic pizza, as well as the more casual offerings.
The restaurant will open a store on the same block as Pizzagate-linked pizzeria Pizza Baroni, according to the company.
Pizzaria del Monte has said it has plans to add 300 new employees over the next three years.
The move comes amid reports of sexual misconduct by executives at the company, including one former chief executive, who left last month.
A former Pizzia owner, Anthony Salerno, has also left the company amid an investigation into allegations of inappropriate behavior, including sexual harassment.
In addition, a former Piazza executive resigned in January amid the scandal.
Salerno is a former board member of the company’s parent company, Pizza Hut Inc., which was acquired by Pizza Hut Holdings Inc. The Wall St. Journal first reported on Tuesday that Pizzara del Monte would be opening a store in Pa.
